On Saturday night, February 22, 2021, Asbury Sunset Presents hosted a free live stream concert of Sean Tobin & the Boardwalk Fire as part of The Watermark Series (taking place every weekend until through the end of March).
Tobin gave audiences a taste of their new EP titled St. Patrick’s Day Forever released just the day before and played a mix of original and Celtic music, as well as covers from artists like Tom Petty and Steve Earle. Tobin joked that people consider the EP’s title song as a COVID-19 song, since Belmar’ famous St. Patrick’s Day parade was held right before the world came to standstill due to the pandemic’s quarantine requirements.
Later in the concert, Tobin mentioned the harsh impact the global pandemic has had on musicians everywhere, briefly mentioning how a friend questioned whether there’s a point to making music anymore. Tobin’s response was that ultimately, “the point is to make people happy and make yourself happy by doing it.”
